Day Eleven: Mother's Day in France

Sunday we all slept in because of the long drive that got us home very late the night before.  We had late brunch.  The children had prepared gifts and arranged some flowers for mom.  They were tenderly given and tenderly received.

Then my brother-in-law and I headed out for a familiar recreation:  golf.  Perhaps because of Mother's Day or the fact that the French Open is on the number of golfers at the course was relatively low.  It was very hilly!  As any golfer knows, excuses are always prepared along with the game.  Mine is that it was my first game of the year and fatigue really did play a role near the end.  My brother-in-law, however, needed no excuses.  He played a very steady game with a very positive result.

We came home hungry and despite the fact that it was Mother's Day, mom produced a very pleasant meal featuring pork tenderloin and a variety of mushrooms including chanterelles.

Then late in the evening I celebrated Mass at home.
